Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment. It has a variety of research-backed impacts, including reduction in stress, and improvements in job satisfaction, emotional regulation, and focus.
Mindfulness at Family School is a daily practice in class, on the yard, and at home. Through this practice we are aware of the present moment, our surroundings, and how our bodies are feeling. Together we use games, tools, and prompts to identify feelings, make choices, and calm ourselves. We also work toward a practice of kindness, empathy, and forgiveness for ourselves and our community.
