MY PATH TO EDUCATION
I have had many profound experiences exploring music and meditation, and I feel inspired to share those experiences in ways that create connection. I believe deeply in the importance of fun and play and feel called to help keep that alive in our culture. My education as a musician began at a very young age and continues to this day. I have studied performance, composition, acoustics, music history, world culture, and more. I earned a BA in Music from Skidmore College with a concentration in audio engineering.

WHAT SHAPED ME
In my 20s and 30s, I worked in the film industry and traveled the world meeting people from all walks of life and capturing their stories. This gave me a deep appreciation for the many possibilities in life and the shared human experiences that connect us all. In 2012, I was invited to a group sound meditation and had a powerful realization about the healing and spiritual power of music. It transformed my relationship with music in ways my traditional Western education had not fully addressed and continues to influence my teaching today.

WHY SYV FAMILY SCHOOL
I value the relationships I get to build with students and staff over time, as well as the beauty of the school’s natural setting. Both create a special environment for learning and connection.

IN MY ROLE
Music is one of the world’s most powerful multidisciplinary subjects — combining art, history, science, math, language, and technology. I hope students experience fun, curiosity, and excitement, and feel that they are born musicians, no matter their talents, interests, or stage in life.

FAVORITE CHILDREN’S BOOK
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs — I love the illustrations and the imaginative story of a world where food falls from the sky.

OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL
I enjoy gardening, trail running, cooking, visiting the beach, cycling, and spending time laughing with friends and family.
