MY PATH TO TEACHING
I studied at Allan Hancock College, where I earned my A.A. in English, before transferring to UCSB to major in English and minor in Applied Psychology. I am currently choosing a program to earn my teaching credential. I have always loved learning, which is what initially drew me to a career in education.
WHAT SHAPED ME
I have been incredibly grateful for the wonderful teachers I’ve had throughout my own education. The teachers who stood out to me most were those who prioritized me as a person before a student, showed genuine care for my feelings, and balanced kindness with discipline. Those experiences continue to shape my belief that supporting students as people first creates a foundation where they feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.
WHY SYV FAMILY SCHOOL
I love our location and the way our environment embodies the spirit of the Family School. It is a safe and exploratory place for learning, made even more meaningful by the staff and families who come together to create experiences for children. I feel very grateful to live and work in this community.
IN MY CLASSROOM
I hope every student feels supported, engaged, and empowered to try new things. I want to create positive and meaningful experiences around learning and remind students that they can be both confident learners and themselves.
FAVORITE CHILDREN’S BOOK
My favorite children’s series is the Harry Potter books. I regularly reread them because they remind me of the value of bravery, knowledge, hard work, and leadership. They also remind me that the world is always a little better with some magic in it!
OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL
I love being outdoors, whether I’m hiking, backpacking, going to the beach, or exploring the river. I’m always finding new books to read and am also a big movie fan. Most of all, spending time with my family is what makes my cup feel the most full.
