WHAT I LOVE ABOUT SYVFS

I love the light in children’s eyes as they make a connection, or share a funny moment with a friend. I love when the kids find out something they didn’t know before about someone else, and connect over it. I love that each student gets a chance to shine through a diverse range of programming. I love that each student is challenged where they are, and is honored and treasured for their true self.  I love our SEL program, and learning about different SEL skills through a range of literature. They are often a good reminder for me to practice! Most of all, I love our all-school hikes. The community and camaraderie amongst students, teachers and parents is the best.

WHY I DO WHAT I DO

I became a teacher to ensure every child felt celebrated for who they are, no matter who that is. Now, I get to help craft and guide systemic policy to reach that mission on a broader scale. I also get to shout from the rooftops how amazing this school truly is!

WHEN NOT AT SCHOOL

When I am not at school, I am spending time with family, teaching tennis, hanging at the beach, camping, reading a good book, learning a new hobby or skill, or traveling.

FAVORITE SYVFS TRADITION

My favorite traditions are the All-School Hike, buddies, and tradition of playing together outdoors. I love watching multi-age groups orchestrating full-on communities in the sandbox, or rousing a game of soccer on the field. Their ability to work and play cooperatively together never ceases to amaze me.
