WHAT I LOVE ABOUT SYVFS

The SYVFS is incredibly supportive of the development of its students and faculty alike. Just like our students, I also enjoy learning and growing each year. Professional development is encouraged to better ourselves, not only as educators, but as human beings. My teaching style and philosophy is one that fits within SYVFS’s inclusive, creative, and compassionate environment.

WHY I DO WHAT I DO
I do what I do because I truly believe that I can help students value education and have fun while learning. I take pride in being able to incorporate academic, physical, mental, and SEL lesson plans that promote a holistic approach to learning. By interconnecting knowledge across multiple learning categories, I hope to promote a lifelong desire for learning.

WHEN NOT AT SCHOOL

If I am not working at the school, then I am most likely exercising, watching sports, spending time with friends and family, or working at a local tasting room.

PASSIONS OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL

My passion is to enjoy life and help others do the same!

FUN FACT

I am a leap year baby!

FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS

My favorite places on campus are the PE shed and the office.

The PE shed is my creation station where I get to grab materials, create games, and ask myself “What do these specific students need to work on? What is something we can all do that will help us physically, mentally, and/or socially and emotionally?” It reminds me to teach with clear intentions (learning outcomes).

The office is a place I go to get some coffee, make some copies, or have a meaningful conversation. I appreciate having a separate location from the classroom where I can feel comfortable and welcome. The office feels like the living room of the home we call SYVFS.

FAVORITE SYVFS TRADITION

I have enjoyed our share-circle in years past. This is around thanksgiving and it gives everyone in our SYVFS community an opportunity to share with, listen to, and learn about others.

WE LOVE READING! HERE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS FOR KIDS:

  • Be Your Own Best Friend FOREVER written and illustrated by Gary Robinson featuring Jayla Rose
