WHAT I LOVE ABOUT SYVFS
I really value community, love for the Earth, and giving children and teachers a safe and loving place for education to take place.
HOW I GOT TO SYVFS
I drive from Santa Barbara to SYV Family School each morning in my dream car, my 1996 Toyota Tacoma : )
FAVORITE TEACHING MOMENT
I love teaching PE and Social Studies the most, because I get to see a different side of each student as they learn about themselves and the amazing world they are interwoven with.
WHEN NOT AT SCHOOL
I spend a lot of time with my black lab/mutt GiGi. Together we go to the beach and play in the mountains. She loves to run in the field while I play baseball with my friends and family too. I recently have started learning how to ride horses with my grandma again and I enjoy fishing with my gramps. Family is really important to me. When I am not running around or at school, I am usually resting, doing Yin Yoga, and meditating or reading.
FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS
The Green Door Yard, I love seeing the littles in the morning when I arrive. It puts me in a wonderful mood : )
FAVORITE SYVFS TRADITION
I am brand new, but so far it's Monday Morning Circle and Thursday Meditation!
WE LOVE READING! HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS FOR KIDS:
Is Nothing Something? by Thich Nhat Hanh - Mindfulness
We Are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom - Indigenous Peoples and Environmental Rights
