WHAT I LOVE ABOUT SYVFS
What I love about SYVFS is that students get the opportunity to learn at their own pace. Students get to enjoy the outdoors every day, they get to be out and playing when it is raining and jump in puddles. We get to hike to Midland School, enjoy their garden, walk across the shaky bridge and see enjoyment in each of the kids' faces. Students are kind, caring and inclusive of others. They all get to play together and in many times make friendships that will last a lifetime. I also have the privilege to see my own kids make connections and enjoy all the wonders that SYVFS has to offer.
HOW I GOT TO SYVFS
I got to SYVFS because of my sister Julieta. She told me there was an opening and that I should apply. I was excited to return and be around students once again, since I worked at Solvang Elementary School for close to 10 years as an aide and a liaison between the school and the Spanish Speaking community. I applied, interviewed and got hired. Now I am happy to be here at SYVFS and also teach the students my 1st language; Spanish.
WHEN NOT AT SCHOOL
When I am not at school I spend time with my children and husband. We go to church, to the park quite often, and we visit my parents. I enjoy going to Cachuma Lake and spending the entire day there. We BBQ, play games, go fishing, take walks along the edge of the lake and just enjoy the family. I also enjoy going shopping, getting pampered and just relaxing at home watching a good movie or show.
FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS
The chess garden because I am able to sit at the bench and take in nature as well as watch the kids enjoying themselves playing basketball and dodgeball.
FAVORITE SYVFS TRADITION
Favorite SYVFS tradition and why: My favorite SYVFS tradition is Special Person Day because the kids get to show off all of their hard work to their special person. Each special person gets a personal tour of their student’s classroom and they also get to see what a beautiful place SYVFS is located at.
