MY PATH TO TEACHING
I have been welcomed into Green Door by faculty, students, and parents. My journey with children began at summer camp at the YMCA in 1996, and over the years I’ve worked in childcare, afterschool programs, Kid’s Corner at the Y, and ran a home daycare for 10 years. I also cared for a family as a nanny. I studied and earned my ECE certifications at SBCC and Allan Hancock. Kids are the future, and they inspire me every day.
WHAT SHAPED ME
Working with children of all ages, from infants to elementary school students, has influenced how I interact with kids and support their growth.
WHY SYV FAMILY SCHOOL
SYV Family School has been amazing. I love the kind and supportive faculty, the school’s diversity, and how children are encouraged to be independent - they are often more capable than we realize!
IN MY CLASSROOM
I want students to feel comfortable and heard, to explore and grow, be kind to others, and form lasting friendships.
FAVORITE CHILDREN’S BOOK
The Secret Garden – a story of healing, hope, and the immense power of nature.
OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL
I enjoy gardening, camping, hiking, and exploring the outdoors. I also love art and photography. Spending time with my grandsons (ages 4½ and 3) is one of my greatest joys - they keep me young at heart.
